Family Law

Relationships between family members sometimes create a complex series of causes and effects.  Our law firm is comprised of partners and Of Counsel associates who love, honor, and cherish all that has to do with families. It is our personal and professional mission to extend our values to the legal representation that we offer to you and yours.

Since 1983, Lawrence B. Manley has established a tradition of excellence in family law. In 1985 he founded the Center for Youth Development, Inc., where he also served as general counsel. Malik N. Drake practices family law with an active background in community service through civic organizations. And Mayo J. Wison offers special experience in matters of family law that interface with immigration.

Adoption

Prepare to meet the requirements of parental fitness before you initiate an adoption process.  Though adoption is a part of our business, it gives us the greatest rewarding pleasure to complete successful adoption proceedings for our clients.

Your adoption process is official only after court finalization. Adopted children are entitled to all the benefits that natural born children are entitled to.  Prepare to assume the same care and support duties that you would be obligated to provide for children born to you.

Divorce

Terminating a marriage contract brings stress to everyone involved.  Our reverence for families qualifies our law firm to conduct divorce proceedings with effectiveness that is as gentle as possible to you and to all of your relationships.

Early and earnest consultation with one of our family law department members is your best guarantee for the best possible outcome in divorce's aspects of alimony, spousal support, property division, and matters that affect children.

Child custody

Once the court finalizes your divorce, conflict and strife can continue over your relationship with your children versus your ex-spouse's relationship with your children.  Custody is a dual arrangement of physical and legal elements.  Day-to-day care and lifestyle comprise physical custody.  Responsibility for children's upbringing is the legal element.

We hope that you and your ex-spouse can agree on arrangements for child custody and visitation.  But we are here for you with our legal experience and life experience to resolve any and every problem that may arise between you, your ex-spouse, and your children.  We look forward to helping you establish child custody arrangements that focus on the best interests of your children.

Our name represents rights and liberty. Let us represent yours.
